Hiring for UA is hard because most candidates can run ads but few own the economics. Use this to tell them apart.

First: do you even need a full-time hire?

• Full-time: UA is core and you need someone owning the P&L daily.
• Fractional lead: you need senior judgment and systems, not a full salary yet.
• Agency: you need executional capacity, with someone internal owning the math.

Job description template

Role: User Acquisition Manager / Lead. Own profitable growth for [app] across paid channels.

• Responsibilities: plan and run paid UA across ASA, Google UAC, Meta and TikTok.
• Own CAC, LTV, ROAS and payback; scale only what clears the math.
• Build the creative-testing pipeline and brief production.
• Stand up attribution and BI you can scale on (MMP, SKAN).

• Requirements: years scaling subscription or mobile apps profitably.
• Fluency in unit economics and at least one MMP.
• Evidence of owning a number, not just executing.

• Success in 90 days: reliable payback reporting in place.
• At least one channel scaled at target payback.
• A working creative-testing cadence.
